Reviews

Bansko

Surrounded by the Pirin, Rila and Rhodope mountains and 95 miles from the capital of Sofia, the ancient town of Bansko is a thriving mountain resort with a population of around 10,000, offering excellent all year conditions for mountain sports and tourism. Unlike many other resorts, here the facilities are situated exclusively in the town of bansko, with the mountain resort offering the most up to date infrastructure available for a perfect vacation.

bansko in summer   bansko in winter

The skiing season starts in mid December and lasts through until mid April when the town changes over to a summer resort offering superb opportunities for mountain biking, walking, fishing, golf, sightseeing and many others. During the winter months the cabin/gondola lift transports skiers from the town to the vicinity of 'Bunderishka polyana' with one intermediary station at 'Chalin valog'. The capacity of the lift is 2400 people per hour.

Ski

Bansko has the finest skiing in Eastern Europe and some of the best value skiing and snowboarding in the world - it offers Alpine quality skiing at Bulgarian prices with diverse, newly renovated, wide tree-lined pistes that give you a variety of skiing for any level. Bansko has the best snow record and the longest ski season (mid December to mid April) of all Bulgarian ski resorts, coupled with the best Apres-ski in Bulgaria.

Suitable for Everyone with plenty of good blue runs to practice on, the superb English speaking ski schools at Bansko will help you quickly get to grips with the basics. The ski area is a paradise for intermediate skiers with a total ski run length of 70 km and a lift network of 26km covering 14 picturesque, well maintained pistes. The slopes also give access to some good off-piste skiing and snowboarding. A multi-million Euro project has recently seen the installation of new lifts, including an eight-person gondola.
